Not so good news.

Sorry for takeimg so long to udate you all . As you know rex was taken back to the hospital last monday night due to complucations with his wound. I go see him every day and he seems to be getting better and acting better but the wound will not heal . The drs dont know if its infection or some kind of fungul disease but he isnt pushing enough red blood cells to the wound for it to heal itself and the drs say this is not a normal thing that happens and even has them confused . The mentioned a specialist in pittsburgh he could be transfered to but they canot give me a deffanite anwser on if it will help him or not . I dont want to make him go through all this if that is the outcome either way nor do i have the money his bill is at 7000 dollars as of today and goes up 600 to 1000 evry day he is there . They have to sedate him daily to change his wet to dry bandage i do not know what to do here and i have my 3 kids at home always aking bout him i dont know what to tell them . And i still have heard nothing from my neighbors insurance about what they are and arnt goin to cover . Im just stuck right know. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Back to the hospital .

Well rexford came home sunday evening. Unfortunately due to unforseen sircumstances he had to go back monday night. He has been re admitted to the icu and is undergoing treatment for his excessive swelling and fluid build up. His body is trying so hard to regenerate but he needs assistance in doing so . They have him on several medications to assist his liver and his body is low on protien so they have him on an iv with a protien supplement . I pray that this works to help him, if not they dont know that he will make it .

First day

Well early yesterday morning rexfords surgery was performed. I went to see him after work and he was alright . The anastetic was wearing off and the pain meds kicking in. He was very unresponsive to my visit , but who could blame him. But me and my wife beth went and seen him today around lunch time. They helped him walk from his cage to the examining room so we could spend some time with him. We where able to get him to eat , just a little bit. But every little bit counts right now. The dr said he will hopefully be returning home tomorrow , depending on if they can transition him to oral meds through food. We cant wait to get him back home and help him condition himself to adjust to this big change. Any advice tips anything is appreciated and i will update soon as we find out the definate plan .

What brought us here .

we adopted rexford at our local dog pound several months ago. He is an awsome dog and a good boy. He dose tricks hes super smart and he came to us completely house broken. We play and wrestle and cuddle. Two days ago he was hit by a car. There was extensive damage done to his rear right leg. He has been hospitolized to the local animal hospitol. He has several bumps and bruises but no organ damage or internal bleeding however his leg was broken and splintered with a coumpound fracture and his pelvice has two fractures .They have decided the safest way to go about getting him back on his feet is to amputate the damaged leg.  Im waiting on the call now to find out when the drs have decided they will perform the surgery it will be tonight or tomorrow. I love this dog and i thank the heavens he was not killed in this accident. He is our friend and part of our family and we love him dearly. This will be his story and record of recovery.

This is the xray of his feamer after the accident
This is rex when i went to see him after i got off work today
When i first got to the hospitol he was super happy to see me. I will continue to post and track his progress. I cant wait for him to come back home.
