What brought us here .

we adopted rexford at our local dog pound several months ago. He is an awsome dog and a good boy. He dose tricks hes super smart and he came to us completely house broken. We play and wrestle and cuddle. Two days ago he was hit by a car. There was extensive damage done to his rear right leg. He has been hospitolized to the local animal hospitol. He has several bumps and bruises but no organ damage or internal bleeding however his leg was broken and splintered with a coumpound fracture and his pelvice has two fractures .They have decided the safest way to go about getting him back on his feet is to amputate the damaged leg.  Im waiting on the call now to find out when the drs have decided they will perform the surgery it will be tonight or tomorrow. I love this dog and i thank the heavens he was not killed in this accident. He is our friend and part of our family and we love him dearly. This will be his story and record of recovery.

This is the xray of his feamer after the accident
This is rex when i went to see him after i got off work today
When i first got to the hospitol he was super happy to see me. I will continue to post and track his progress. I cant wait for him to come back home.

  2. Redford, you poor darling boy! So sorry you got into such a serious accident! You are one lucky fella!
Best of luck for your surgery, but you’ve made it this far, you’ll have no problem getting through this!
Hang in there Mum & Dad, it’s a tough recovery, but well worth it in the end!

  3. It sucks and will hurt you more than it will him . Let him know you still love him . Then let him heal . Once they say it’s ok for walks start out slowly and take him out gradually building on his strength and ability. Work him out every day . IF he starts sitting , stop and let him rest then go home . It takes time and love but he will recover and be fine . My pit mix lost his leg to another dog under a fence when he was 5 months old . Now at 6 years he really doesn’t miss the leg at all. It hurts us emotionally and them physically for a while but they recover pretty fast and do very well . Look up all the information you an on beds , strength training , diet , balance and just being good parents to him . most important , love him .
