Back to the hospital .

Well rexford came home sunday evening. Unfortunately due to unforseen sircumstances he had to go back monday night. He has been re admitted to the icu and is undergoing treatment for his excessive swelling and fluid build up. His body is trying so hard to regenerate but he needs assistance in doing so . They have him on several medications to assist his liver and his body is low on protien so they have him on an iv with a protien supplement . I pray that this works to help him, if not they dont know that he will make it .

  1. Goodness gracious Rexford! Let’s get you healed up and back home!

This is major surgery and it certainly has “situations” like this pop up during this early part of the recovery. He’s where he needs to be and it sounds like he’s getting really good care. The dluid and swelling does happen. Not sure what’s going on with his liver. Was he on Rimadyl? Sometimes that can effect the liver and kidneys cery quickly. Whatever the cause, sounds like they are getting it handled.

I just saw the pictures from your earlier blog. I LOVE REXFORD!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ What a handsome adorable boy!! Love that big smoochable mug!

We’re all cheering for Rexford and sending all the positive healing energy in the world to Rexford!

  2. Hang in there! Your pup is getting the help he needs. My 9 year old, too, had emergency surgery 2days after amputation. (Ruptured bladder). So stressful and scary for us humans. Hoping your Rexford has a complete recovery.

  3. They have decided they are going to go back in he has a bunch of dead skin cells thay are going to remove and possibly put a drain tube in they are worried the first antibiotics they gave him where not atrong enough and he has a dmall infection im waiting on the call for him to be done in surgery i prolly wont get to go see him today after work cuz he will need his rest.

  4. I am sorry to hear about Rexford. I know he is in good hands with your vet and they will take wonderful care of him.

    Get well soon Rexford

  5. Okay, at least it looks like they’ve identified the “cause” of the problems. And yes, as scary and awful as this sounds, it does happen…especially having to go in and put a drain in, as well as infections. It’s sugery, but it’s not as invasive as his first surgery. I know that doesn’t alleviate your stress though.

Thank you for taking time to update us. We are all now part of the REXFORD FAN CLUB!! IF you are up to it, update us after surgery and let us know what the Surgeon says. And we understand if you’re too tired. Just know we are all still sending positive healing energy to this sweet boy!

    Hugs
